WOOOOHOOOOOOO!! :)

Adell had an appointment yesterday at Orthopedic Services for another scan and an adjustment on her STAR Band. After having the scan we recieved WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!! Adell's measurements are now at a 3!!!! This means that Adell does not need to wear her STAR Band during the day only at night now!!!! We are so excited!!! Dale at Orthopedic Services was extremely pleased with the results! The only reason he said that she needed to wear her STAR Band at night is because of the torticollis. Adell still turns her head to the right a good bit. We can tell a HUGE difference with her wearing her STAR Band. Adell will continue to see Elizabeth at Kidnetics for PT to help with the torticollis. Elizabeth is also working with Adell on some exercises to help her sit on her own. We have another appointment scheduled with Orthopedic Services and Elizabeth at Kidnetics in 2 weeks. I will post another blog after our appointments. Thank you all for following Adell's journey!

We have a new addition to the Wilson family....

The Wilson house has been crazy for the past couple of weeks!!! Bryson started 2nd grade yesterday and we have been busy buying school supplies, meeting his teacher, and trying to get back on a "normal" schedule. We also have a new addition, we have a minature winnie dog named Lexie! she is so cute and sweet with the kids!! Adell had an appointment with Orthopedic Services yesterday. We had noticed that her STAR Band had really irritated the back of her head (at her hair line). It wasn't just a little red but blood red!! Joel at Orthopedic Services made the proper adjustments in the back and then noticed that in the front on the right side her STAR Band needed to be tighter in that area. He viewed her scan from her last visit and was very impressed by the improvement!!! He said that we still had a little more improvement on the right side (forehead) area. But he did not think it would be too much longer. We go see Elizabeth tomorrow morning at Kidnetics for our Physical Therapy appointment. Adell is doing great with her visits with Elizabeth and our "at home" PT that we do. She does still tend to favor the right side! Well I have to go help Bryson with math and reading homework and cook supper.

GREAT NEWS!!!!

We have recieved GREAT NEWS reguarding Adell's STAR Band Treatment!!! We had an adjustment and a scan yesterday at Orthopedic Services. Adell is now in the 4 to 5 range!!! Dale at Orthopedic Services said that was a HUGE difference from where we started!!! He was extremely pleased!! He said that Adell may only have to wear her STAR Band for one more month!!!! She is scheduled in 2 more weeks for another adjustment appointment and then 2 weeks after that they will do another scan and let us know. Dale did mention that Adell may have to only wear her STAR Band at night while she sleeps. We are so encouraged and extremely pleased with the results so far!!!! Adell sure has been a trooper with this journey!! After we visited Orthopedic Services yesterday we then went to see Elizabeth at Kidnetics for our physical therapy appointment. Adell is doing "ok" with the torticollis, but she still likes to favor that right side! Elizabeth will continue to see Adell every other week and I do different stretching exercises with Adell at home to help. Adell has had a very busy week. She is finishing up an antibiotic for a terrible sinus infection. Bryson has had vacation bible school this week and is loving it! And Emily is always wide open!!!! We went grocery shopping on Monday and she decided to throw a glass jar of spagetti sauce out of the buggy onto the floor!!! Needless to say it was a mess!!!! I will try to post new pictures hopefully this weekend, but for now I have endless stacks of laundry calling my name!!!

Time sure flies when you are having FUN!!!!

What a wirl wind of a SUMMER!!!! It is hard to believe that school starts back for Bryson on August the 16th!!!! It seems like it starts earlier and earlier every year! We go to register and find out who his teacher is on Thursday! Adell is doing SUPER with her STAR band! We went last week for an adjustment with Orthopedic Services and Dale said that we were right on track! He was extremely pleased with Adell's progress!!!! We go back next week for a follow up appointment and another STAR Scan to check her progress. Adell sure does not let wearing her STAR band interfere with any of her day to day activites!!! She is a very curious and active 7 month old now!!! She babbles constantly with her favorite word being "DA"!!! She also LOVES with a capital "L" eating baby food now!!!! We have a time keeping her STAR Band clean while she is eating due to her blowing bubbles with her baby food!!! I would like to thank everyone who continues to follow Adell's STAR Band Journey! I would also like to encourage everyone to keep supporting "Alexandra's PHATE"! If it wasn't for their great help Adell would not be so fortuneate to have a STAR Band. Keep checking back for more updates on Adell's progress! We are in the midst of a terrible thunderstorm so I am logging off for now! Morgan

We have made alot of progress!!!!

We sure have been busy!!!! Dale was on vacation this past week, but it wasn't much of a vacation for him!!! He had lots of projects around the house that he got done!! We started off our week celebrating July 4th with a cook out with my parents and then a huge fireworks and ice cream social at our church. Then on Tuesday evening we took the kids on their first fishing trip! That was exciting! Bryson and Emily each caught their first fish!
Adell had an appointment with Orthopedic Services on Wednesday afternoon. She did GREAT!!!! Joel made the necessary adjustments to her STAR Band. She was experiencing a little "rotation" with her helmet so we were there a little longer for this appointment. Adell had another STAR scan to check and see if we could see a difference with the helmet. GREAT NEWS!!!! Adell has been wearing her helmet for @ a month now. When we first started she was in the 12-13 range, now we are in the 8-9 area!!!! Joel and Dale at Orthopedic Services were extremely pleased with her progress!!! She is doing great with her helmet!!! She is so used to it now she gets upset when we take it off for bathtime!!! We go see Elizabeth this week at "Kidnetics" for our physical therapy appointmet. I can't wait to share the news on the progress Adell has made. I will post again after our appointment with Elizabeth. I would like to thank everyone for following Adell and her STAR band Journey.

Helmets and Hot Weather....Not a Good Combination!

Whew! It is HOT here in South Carolina!!!! And it doesn't look like we will be seeing any relief in the next few days! It has been crazy here in the Wilson house for the past two weeks! We have had alot of appointments and other things going on! I had to schedule a visit with Orthopedic Services yesterday for an adjustment on Adell's helmet. We were noticing some redness and "pulling" on the left side near her eye. After the adjustment she is now doing great! Adell is adjusting to wearing her helmet and does not seem to mind it at all! We are now wearing the helmet 23 hours a day. I think her favorite time of the day is bath time! She really loves that! We have to watch Adell's big sister Emily who is 2, because when Adell's helmet is off she is very curious about it! If you know what I mean! We had my parents down Sunday night for a special "Father's Day Dinner". My dad and my husband love motorcycles. Dad made the coment that Adell looked like she was "ready for a ride"!!! Everywhere we go strangers love the "bling" that we added to Adell's helmet. I'm very suprised that the stickers have lasted! We have a busy day on Friday! Adell has her 6 month check up and then after that we have a follow up appointment with Orthopedic Services. This is our off week for physical therapy with Elizabeth at Kidnetics. We have an appointment scheduled next week with her. I will post next week after our appointment with Elizabeth. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend! Try and stay COOL!

It hasn't been easy....

Since my last post on Friday alot has happened in our house!!! Adell has been doing good wearing her STAR band!!! On Friday she wore it for 1 hour, on Saturday for 2 hours, Sunday 4 hours, Monday 8 hours, and today is the DAY!!! She wears it 23 hours today!!!! We had to run some errands today and poor girl! It's so HOT here in SC.... High of 95 degrees today with a heat index of 104!!!! We limited our stops today! I was able to educate a lady in line today at Dollar General about plagiocephaly and Adell's helmet! I also gave alexandras phate website information and told her to check it out! Bryson and I "blinged" Adells band this morning with her name and cute flower stickers! I'm a little slow at posting pics on that.
On another note and completely off the subject of Adell and her band, my son Bryson is from my first marriage that did not work out. We were still friends and got along which was good. Bryson's dad passed away on Sunday evening from what they think was a massive heart attack. He was only 33 years old. Bryson is only 7 and does not quite understand the whole concept of it. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we go thru this difficult time.

Our Journey Begins

My name is Morgan and my daughter Adell has been diagnosed with Torticollis and Plagiocephally. This is our story....I first noticed at @ 4-5 weeks old that Adell constantly turned her head to the right. I brought this to her peditrican's attention at her next appointment. The doctor advised me to change her position when I found her turning her head to the right. We tried several different things and it just did not work. Still concerned, I made another appointment with Adell's doctor and he recommended us seeing a physical therapist. Our physical therapist Elizabeth at "Kidnetics" is wonderful!!!!! We love HER! At Adell's first physical therapy appointment Elizabeth evaluated Adell and started some exercises with her. She also gave me a list of exercises for us to do at home. We do these 5 times a day! At first Adell did not like this AT ALL, but I did find that she does best while she is in the bathtub. After several months of therapy with Elizabeth she recomended that we go for an evaluation for a "Star Band" (helmet). After measurments and a scan of Adell's head by "Orthopedic Services" it was determined that she definitely needed a helmet. We were very discourged when we found out that our insurance would not provide coverage for the helmet. Thank goodness for "Alexandra's PHATE"!!!! Gary and Valerie are WONDERFUL!!!! With their help and Blake from Orthomerica (the makers of the helmet) we were able to recieve a helmet. We went today for the fitting and Adell did GREAT!!! We wore our helmet this afternoon for 1 hour and she even fell asleep with it on! Check back often and follow our progress!
